Welcome to the wonderful world of Navman!

I too bought an S80 (mainly because I have one of their depth sounders which works great). The marine guys obviously didn't design this turd. What a piece of crap! It reboots at least once during every trip, whenever it feels like it.

As you've found out, don't hold your breath waiting for Navman to offer any support. It is non existent! They've got your hard earned dosh...they don't want to know you now.

I purchased a Navman S150 in November 2008. I have never had a response from the NZ 0800 number. I email and get told to call their 1300 number - which is Australian and cannot be used in NZ.

The software interface has not be fully rewritten for the S150 - it has a number of instructions that don't correspond to the keys and menus.

I bought this product thinking I was supporting a NZ company - Wrong! NZ requirements are poorly catered for. I regret buying this product.

I have just had the worst customer service ever. I am now over 5 weeks waiting on my Navman being returned to me. They told me it would take 2 weeks, then they told me 4 weeks is the turn around, now they have moved buildings so there is a delay. When I asked to hear what was on my case file the girl accidentaly read out that it had only just been sent to the tech dept a day ago.
When I tried to make an official complaint she told me i couldn't? "Beat That".
When I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager she then told me I couldn't. I asked for a phone number of someone in authority, she told me there was noone!
When I asked for someone in authority to call me back she said she would add it to my case file and "Someone would call in in 2 days". What an absolute joke of a company. Navman = worst customer service ever

Here is the best part, I sent a Landrover Engine management system box back to the UK as the electronics had frozen on me. I got a phone call within 8 days informing me it was received and they were going to clear the memory and then reload with updates. I received it back within 3 weeks and 2 days. Landrover 100% fantastic customer service.

Well its now been 5 weeks since returning my navman S50 to Navman Aust at Gladesville Sydney and guess what ?? still no contact from them..iI have emailed them 3 times ..rang six times ...each time taking upto 40 min to answer and have faxed them twice...POOR...they now say they never recieved it or have misplaced it...lucky for me i sent it registered post...so now its a long waiting game...

So my advice to everyone...NEVER BUY NAVMAN...they are pathetic...go with other brands.

Anyone have any ideas for me as im at a loss of what to do next

If you write a letter of demand including all emails you sent them, records of phone calls ets, telling them you want a refund or replacement or you will take legal action. Tell them they have 7 working days to responed. You then take the letter and all copies of emails etc to the point of sale (where you purchased it) they will then take it from there. I did this with Harvey Norman and I had a replacement withing 3 days. good luck

Post Navman call today

Hi co-users of Navman,
Some good news for a change. I purchased a Navman S90i on 27 May 2009.
After 8 weeks of very intermittent use, the car charger cable did no work, so
I telephoned head office, (02)9879 9000, I was advised that there were no local offices where I could return or exchange the cable. Igiven a reference number and advised by the telephonist to return it by post to head office in Sydney, where upon a new one would be dispatched back to me. I mislaid the ref no, so today I called back to retrieve it. Called the same number and selected option 3 for Warranty issue with my call being taken by a friendly voice by a call centre in Manilla.
A new reference number was provided and was kindly advised that there was no need to send the cable back. A new one would be dispatched within 5-10 working days. Watch this space in 2 weeks.
Smile

Post Navman 6507

In May 07 I bought a Navman 6507 to compliment the DSC equipped navman radio, the radio is supposed to accept GPS co-ordinates from the 6507 and can transmit your position in an emergency.
That link dropped out about 6 months after the purchase, I got a technician to look at the problem with no luck, I basically put it down to a bad install..
Christmas 09 the backlight on the GPS failed I paid $2,120 for the unit and the fuel sensors to I could monitor fuel consumption, what a great feature..
Of course the warranty is only 2 years, Naman now Northstar owned I believe by Navico here in Aus do not repair the units, the could offer me a refurbished unit for $650 with a 3 month warranty!! Or I could contact the place of purchase and have them contact the rep and see if I could get a better deal! Other option is to purchase their latest and last model for $799.
Al I can say is anybody considering anything made by Navman to seriously reconsider their options, as far as I am concerned their gear, support and the company are not good enough!

I had issues with Navman also with an S80, in the end I gave them a letter of demand giving them 7 working days to respond or I would take legal action. The issue I had was that the unit was always failing and I could use "not fit for purpose" I ended up with a new unit.

I would never buy another Navman!!!!!!
I downloadable maps for a country in Europe for my next holiday.
I received a code which was inactive and I never got my money back.
I have spend month chasing Navman for a refund. I received neither my money nor a satisfactory answer or a new code. They basically robed me of my money. I will now take it to the Ombudsman and then sue Navman for the outstanding amount plus my time and expenses

Ouch. Looks like nothing much has changed since first post 24th Dec 2007.
Something missing somewhere as they are still being advertised and sold by the major stores. Sounds like customer support is non-existant unfortuneatly. Sad

After reading all other mentions of Navman lack of support, in different areas of the forum, that is about the only place to get satisfaction.
They have been in court in Australia previously for their attitude, and case against them was won.

Read through the forum and you may be able to get some info to back up your claim as to lack of support etc.

Waited 20 minutes on phone for help. Can't download maps (which are part of the purchase price).
When the phone was answered it was impossible to hear the guy for a lot of background noise.
Anyone want a cheap Navman?
