I agree with the speaker distortion over 70% is there any way to fix this????

I need 80% or 90% on occasion when the music is wound up high!

Actually, I have experience my first reboot today, and i am on 3.60 Sad It happened when calculating the route and I hope this will not be happening to often...

As to the POIs, I really have no experience with installing them on Garmins. With TomToms it is extremely easy. Here, after my first attempt, I noticed that some of them (rest areas) went to "Extras" and I can't find the rest (cameras, etc.)..

That's disappointing although I have not experienced any unexcepted shutdown since going to 3.6 myself. 3.6 is certainly more stable that 3.4 for me.

I previously reported problems with POI but as it turns out I have egg on my face. It was a user error. The POI did work as expected for me.

I had another reboot, out of nowhere .. Sad If it keeps happening I will have to return the unit. The sad part is, I do not really want to as I have ift boundled with free maps for life and this boundle is no longer available in Canada.

Ona a different note...

Am I right when I say that the use of the POIs in Nuvis is somewhat limited to setting up proximity alerts for speed cameras etc?

I used to load POIs, for two main reasons:

(1) It was extremely easy (it is not with Garmin)
(2) I could then see branded signs of my favourite bank, gas stations, restaurants, etc. in the 3D driving mode. This is not an option with the 1300 or 1400 series of Nuvis.

Did you try doing a master reset as a previous poster suggested? You will need to backup your favourites.

I am not sure what you do you mean by easy. What I do is to simply place all the CSV files and the BMP images in a directory. Use the POI Loader and point it to the directory. The images will show up on the map when your zoom level is higher enough. To me that is easy.

However, the zoom level is one gripe I have with POIs. The 1390 automatically zooms when navigating and often the zoom level is such that the POIs do not show up. I am a geocacher, if I see a geocache on the screen, I may want to make an impromptu stop. I wish there is a way to indicate that I want a particular category of POIs to always display on the screen.

A friend had to return his near new 765t for repairs/replacement, and he had paid fo the lifetime maps, and when unit returned it had old maps on it, so rang Garmin and had problem rectified.
They have to repair if under warranty and you have paid for the lifetime maps and should receive them.
Only took a phone call to have it all rectified.

I would like to report that since upgrading to the latest firmware some weeks back, I have not observed any reboots with or without the micro SD installed. Looks like the latest firmware is the way to go.
