After a lot of messing about I have finally managed to be able to access the garmin files, my problem is I guess because its pretty old, it uses gpi and disc image for the formats, I have bought/downloaded a poi UK camera alerts etc from here but the poi loader does not recognise it, so is it a case of adding and or replacing the file in the unit? or is there something else I should be doing?

My second question is where can I find a map update for this unit, and how do I upload it, any help much appreciated.

Hi
Garmin should recognize GPI files, and POI Loader's CSV and GPX file.
Is there any error mesage?

Was sure I posted further questions yesterday?

Anyway thanks for your reply, can you tell me just how the garmin file system works? I have the following.

Main Garmin folder, containing.

Tools, which has two safety camera gpi files.
Vehicle, containing srf image files.
Voice, which contains all the voice files.

Further to these it has:
fs-image-ver
gmapbmap presume map image file?
gmapprom

and duplicates of the two safety camera files.

I am wondering if it has been previously messed with, as I have never been able get safety camera alerts or place marks.

I then bought one of the safety camera updates from this site, and tried placing it in the same locations as the other safety camera files, but that still didn't work, so I created a folder called POI, and placed the safety camera files both old and new in that, and I suddenly have camera locations appearing, however I haven't had a chance to test the alert tones yet.

So should I be renaming the file system? are there some missing? the nav seems to work as it should apart from that.

My final question do I need to update the map? its a 2009 version, and if so where can I find an unlocked map image file?

Any further help much appreciated.
