Ive got a Garmin 1695, and ive just downloaded to my hard drive the latest UK road safety camera file. Ive used POI loader before, but, before i install the file to my satnav, how do i delete the ones already on my satnav that came with it? Im guessing, that if i dont delete them, ill double up on the cameras and use loads of memory and slow down the sat navs responses whilst its in use.
Using Windows explorer, open up the files on your Nuvi.
You need to get to the 'Garmin/POI' folder.
Here you will find .gpi Files, there may be more than 1, this is where both your custom POI's and also the pre-installed ones are.
If you are going to load all new POI's, then just delete the .gpi files altogether. Keep in mind though that this deletes all pre-installed POI's, you can't just delete the camera files alone.
For me, I would keep the pre-installed ones if they are not too far out of date.
