People

A great sit but I appear to be going around in cicrle, and my beloved "Speed Cameras in 30 Seconds", is nought but a beep beep - no voice. I have a garmin nuvi 215W - and at some stage this worked.

The Garmin POI loader - loads a file with a gpi extension but complains th Camera_UK.wav format is work, yet it loads other which are a copy of it with a different name. The other odd thing is that POIs are being shown after the grmon loader says its loaded the file. if I search for sub way - it does not find it?

So a few odd things going on. will someone give me a simple check list.

The voice file must have the same name as the speed warning file, with a .wav file extension.

I have it in the Garmin directory AND the POI sub-directory under Garmin.
Have never had any problems..

I also get Camera_UK.wav etc cannot be converted in the POILoader, I will try to sort it if I can. I presume the format downloaded is not correct for the poiloader.

Hi Peter, you may have to use the MP3 sound file as different models use either .wav or .mp3 files.
You may need the SOX.exe program to convert as well, which, if needed, put it in the same directory that you have POI Loader.
Get sox.exe here........... http://www.gps-data-team.com/pda-gps-navigation/topic/2500.html

You have to put 3 files in a folder for custom POI:
1. icon (.bmp file)
2. poi database (.cvs or .gpx file)
3. alert voice (.wav or .mp3 file)
Transfer them to GPS with POILoader.
If you don't put voice file in the folder, the GPS will use the default alert voice for the custom POI.

I suspect that models that music playing capability will use the .MP3 sound files, and the non music playing models use the .wav sound files.

Hi, Same problem on mine, you need to copy the SOX.exe file to the POI Upload directory on your PC, then reload the custom POI and the device will play the custom sound instead of Ping Ping, works fine on mine now
