I just joined this site and I am now learning about custom POI's.
I downloaded the Safety camera and speed camera poi's for Canada.
I for some reason cannot transfer the extended data poi's. I keep getting a transfer data error on line 2 of the GPX files. The CSV files work great.
I transfered 1500 data points with success. The First time I heard the voice warning announced that I was approaching a speed camera, I started to smile. It all worked and now I have a good Idea of when to watch my speed.
Then I noticed that the startup times of the gps would take an unusual long time to display the map. Then with the map displayed the unit would freeze and become unresponsive. I checked to make sure that the firmware was up to date and it was. I elected to do the factory reset and I also cleared the custom POI that I had previously made. The unit now is very quick to start up.
Does anyone know if there is a limitation on how large the POI file can be for the Garmin Nuvi 1490T.

Maybe try using the basic gpx file rather than the extended gpx file.
CSV and basic GPX files convert fine onto my device.
You could always try re-adding the poi's to see if it slows down the device again. With a clean memory it may behave differently second time around.
It seems that the gpx file was not transfering properly from my MacPro computer. I transfered all my data to a windows 7 32bit computer. Everything works perfectly now. looks like Garmin gps's prefer Windows operating systems.
