I have a Garmin 3790T but it does not have voice prompts for speed camera's ect. Im so disapointed. My old TomTom had this feature. Does anybody know how to make voice prompts for this model? Can someone help me with this problem.

hey mr_wogstar
... You've captured my interest.. I have just downloaded POI's for speed cameras etc. to my old Garmin C510. When I went for a drive, I noticed that the map displays tiny icons of cameras and red lights - but no audio warnings. I presume mine should have some sort of mp3 files installed? I must keep reading. Any pointers? Regards

Allan.jeal, download the WAV files. Your Garmin can't read mp3's.

You can use almost any standard wav file to notify you.
The POI pages have predefined ones, but you can also create your own.
Just make sure its named the same as the camera file (expect the file extension).

hi mr_wogstar
have you resolved this issue?
I have the same device and I have mp3 or wav files but don't know where to put these files?
For the speed cameras I use a gpy file but in this file there is no information about which sound file is used.

And also download the sox.exe file and place it in the same folder as your POI Loader:

It is disappointing but you can get around it. Download the GPS Data Team's camera POIs and necessary WAV files and use Garmin's POI loader to load them on an SD card. You will then be able to hear a spoken warning as to the type of camera you are heading for.

Hi I too have a Garmin 3790t and have found using WAVE files helps putting voice to my custom pois. I use site listed here.
Change the voice to a mans voice and type in what i want the poi to say... eg Red light camera ahead. then i click speak it saves the wave file on my desktop.
Then using poi loader selected to manuel ignoring all that i dont have voices for, and putting a distance of your choice when you want to be warned for the poi. Hope it all works and that i can be of some help.

Thanks J.Sparrow, I scrapped all the .mp3 files and replaced with .wav files. Then I discovered that the properties of the .wav must be exactly correct or they wont work. Then I discovered that some .WAV files will simply will not work in the 3790T although they will work in an older C510. Maybe, just maybe, I'm dumb.

What you need to do is to make sure that the data (eg .csv), the icon (.bmp) and the voice (.wav) files are spelt exactly the same eg Speed_Red_Camera. They should then work.

I have a Nuvi 1490T and I too would like to know if it is possible to increase the volume of camera and school zone prompts.
Anyone know?

Cheers
