Hi Everyone - First Post I have just got the 1490T and trying to add the speed cameras POI from the GPS Data Team. I have read a few of the topics and have a folder on the PC and then upload them with POILoader. It is all pretty straightforward and as you are not told where the uploads have gone to on the machine I assumed them to be in the POI folder and appear with the preinstalled POIs. Not the case - I simply cannot find them on the machine having been congratulated by the POIloader that all is complete. Sad Any ideas please.
Many thanks - Richard

Correct folder, however they are not all seperate files.
POI Loader combines them all into 1 .gpi file.
So long as they work is the main thing...

Icons - .BMP files, need to be in the same folder on your PC as the POI files themselves.
Make sure all the POI are together in one folder, and that the .BMP files have the exact same name as the .CSV files.

For the ones that are not working, I suggest you use POI Loader to remove the existing POI from your device, then try again from the beginning.

If you want to save what you already have on there 1st use this tool http://tomtom.gps-data-team.com/poi/csv2ov2.php
( found here: http://www.gps-data-team.com/convert.php )
You can then open and edit the CSV in Excel if you wish.

Cheers,

It's load to your Garmin POI folder or GPX folder. you can not see the single file as you said. Garmin POI loader will put everething into one file when it completed transfer. I had the same GPS as you had, i even installed voice alert into my Garmin 1490T and work so nice. Hope this will help.

But one question my friends, I did download all the POI with the pictures and sounds, I did put them at the same folder, the names are the same.

I did use then the POI Loader, and I did notice the one file 1.gpx in the POI folder, but in my idea.. just one of my download POI have 450kb and I did download 3 of them ( nearly 450 kb each, so I assume that they should be like 1MB and something right? ) And the sound I don't know where it did go.. Razz but I will assume that it will work I hope Very Happy I didn't test yet.. but maybe today or tomorrow hehe.

Best Regards

I use a 1460 and it's sold in Asia as a 'sister' to 1490 in the USA. Use the POI loader and select the folder where it contains all the csv files. It should combine all the info into one .gpi file in your 'poi' folder. Bingo it's done easy!

Every time when you reload the POI directly to your GPS unit, it overwrites your current poi.gpi file. If you want to keep your old poi.gpi and add a new one, load the new POI in a directory in your computer using POILoader, instead of loading it directly to your GPS unit.

Then rename the new file poi.gpi to another name with .gpi extension. Copy it to your POI folder in your GPS unit. Your should then have both.

If you wish to update your files, download the new poi's into the same directory you used previously and let POI Loader just do an update of your new files.
