Might you be out of space on your device?

Check out the Nuvi folder in Windows Explorer, check properties and you will see capacity of the folder and the free space.

Very Happy

Just thought it would be worth a quick check to see if this is a problem..
Connect your Nuvi to your PC as you would normally to load POI.
Wait for the box that comes up and click on 'open this folder' (may not be exact).
This will open Windows Explorer with the Nuvi drive showing what folder and files are on the device.
You need to open 'computer' or 'my computer' (I'm using Windows 7, so may not look the same as yours).
When you click on 'computer' you will see all the drives connected to your PC including your Nuvi and any memory cards or slots.
It should also give you an overview of the size of the drives and the space left on them.
(If you cant find 'computer' this way, close the window, go to start button and click on 'my computer' will get you to the same place)

The only purpose of doing this is to eliminate lack of space as an issue.
If it proves to be an issue, then we need to look at cleaning up your Nuvi, or adding a memory card.

Cheers,

If you haven't got many POI loaded yet, try using POI Loader to remove all your exisitng ones on the device.
Then reload all the ones you want, seems sometimes that it wont overwrite old POI successfully - no idea why?
Also, check that you have the latest upgrades and the latest POI Loader.

Sounds like you know how to do it OK, so perhaps an issue with the Nuvi.
There have been a number of complaints about some of the new models and there is a post about now updates.. http://www.gps-data-team.com/pda-gps-navigation/viewtopic.php?t=4719 Reckon i'd give that a try.

I can search my custom POI's but don't get any alerts when I get close to them. Worked great on my 765T.

Please provide step by step instructions.

I was able to get my POI folder to load and display on the 3790T by doing a Garmin master reset:
1. Start with the unit turned OFF and unplugged from power
2. Power ON the device
3. When the copyright screen appears press and hold the lower right hand corner of the touchscreen
4. Remove your finger from the touchscreen when a message appears that says Erase all user data?
5. Touch YES
6. After resetting go back to POI Loader and reinstall POIs. After restarting the NĂ¼vi the POIs should appear appear.

P.S. Do not forget to backup your favorites before proceding with the master reset.

You need the BMP file for the icon and the WAV (or maybe the MP3 - depending on the model).
Download from the same place you get the POI.
To use the WAV files you will also need SOX.EXE, (found HERE) and you will get the directions as to where to find it and how to use it.

Post POI Loader - Mac version and Maybe Windows too

It appears to be a problem with the POI Loader loading Custom POI's onto the 3790T.

What I've found is the POI.gpi file gets written but once the GPS is ejected and rebooted it disappears.

Garmin will post an update, which is still to arrive.

The work around I have found is use the current POI loader to create the POI.gpi file on your computer. Don't have it load it on the GPS.

Once you have the file load it on a micro SD card and insert it in the GPS unit.

The GPS should ask you if you want to copy the file for later, answer yes and it should now load it correctly.

Please refer to the other Garmin forum posts about file naming and structure.

Post Getting Nuvi GPS to recognize custom POI's.

1. Plug your GPS into your computer and wait until it is recognized by the computer.

2. When serching through your GPS folders search for the file named "current.gpx".

3. Place you custom POI's in that folder (provided that that your POI's are also ".gpx").

4. Safely remove your GPS from your computer. Let it completly reboot. You custom PIO's should be in your "Favorites" menu.

Hope this works, It worked for me.

Happy Travels.
