I have tested this several times on GPS simulation mode. I point to an address that passes a speed camera (and I've set the notifications all to alert me when I get close them like 400m, I didn't do the go over x speed notification) and even though I pass the camera, no notifications are given.
Is this because it's in simulation mode?

Have you set the proximity alerts to 'On' ? Without this there will be no warning for speed cameras etc in any mode.

I don't know about your particular unit, but my Nuvi 750 works in simulation mode. Make sure that the file names are the same, not the extensions.

Some thing.bmp
Good Music.MP3
Something to see.cvs

Should be:

Something else.cvs
Something else.bmp
Something else.mp3

or anything else you want to name them as long as they are the same.

The names are all identical.. that's how they are when you download them isn't it?
By the way, I'm using gpx files not csv.. could that be why?

I checked out a few files on this site (I have only downloaded one) and they appear to be the same, however, that does not necessarily apply to other sites. Letter case could be a problem. I don't have the speed camera file from this site, but I would be willing to see if I get the same result as you do if you will provide me the exact address you are using.

FWIW, to my knowledge, it doesn't matter whether it is a csv or gpx file. They all must have the same file names.

Check the coordinates for the site using Google Earth (camera). An address or coordinates can be off a considerable amount. I haven't seen an associated MP3 or WAV file for any particular POI file on this site, but I am looking. Have been a member for some time, but have been working on POI file creation and don't sign in too often.

Hi
No need to "give" any coordinates... just make a small test file with points along your usual route (to test your unit). Return it if it doesn't work.
You can use our online POIEdit.

I can't get sound alerts to work either. I have read all the relevant posts, transered the files to my 1390t and still nothing.

I have double checked that I have sent sets of three files to the GPS (*.gpx, *.mp3 and *.bmp) using Garmin's POI uploader. The files names are exactly the same.

The new POI icons are displayed but I am still getting the Garmin speech bubble and the Garmin 'fasten your seat belts' chime. I have the proximity alert turned on for custom POI.

What else can I try to get the spoken alerts happening.

Cheers

Hi Mark,
I just did this, made a custom POI and set alert to 500 m and it did notify me! However, the ones on the website haven't alerted me yet...

I read somewhere that the device looks at file name b4 looking at the distance specified and assumes that's the distance/speed limit to warn you? If that's the case should i rename the ones that mention the speed limit (like 100, 90, 50 etc)?

I want all of them to alert me in 500m, not if I go over a certain speed. If I manually enter 500m in each would it listen or is the alert embedded in the gpx file?
Thanks

I just tested a speed cam and it works! I guess the other ones I was setting a route that would not go past the camera (like at the intersection maybe I went the wrong direction).

call the custom poi file redlight or 'safety' and the alerts will all default to the default setting and beep
