Yes you can but you have to do some work on your computer first.285 will not play mp3 for alerts but you can use wav files to do the same thing .You have to place the sox.exe file on your computer first.Here is how to do it.
a.Download the latest PoiLoader file at https://www.gps-data-team.com/pda-gps-navigation/topic/33.html
b. Download Sox Exe at http://poidirectory.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5535#5535
c. After un-zipping Sox.Exe file place it in your Garmin folder where the PoiLoader exe file is located on the computer. This is a one-time installation.
d. The wav file for alerts will be named the same as the CSV or GPX file except for the extensions.
e. You can make your own wav files by going to http://poidirectory.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2258#6765 and typing in what you want it to say or use a program to convert mp3 files to wav. When using the conversion it must be saved as PCM, 44.100 kHZ., 16 bit, Mono. Wav files are also on site for download.
f.Select manual mode on poiloader to set speed or distance for alert.
