I have currently installed an 8Gb SD card in my Nuvi 1490T. Are the larger 16Gb size cards also supported on this device?

I e-mailed Garmin and they were very helpful in telling me the amount of SD memory should not be exceeded. Perhaps you should do the same.

The maximum data card size compatible with the Nuvi 1xxx is a 16GB SD data card.

Most customers find a 4GB card to fully sufficient.

16Gb should be supported.
