Post All mounted on the motorcycle

Have mounted the Tom Tom One 140 on the motorcycle, big road test tomorrow when I go for a ride to see if performs as good as the V3 Tom Toms. I did have at one point in time an ampflier wired to the Tom Tom V3 speaker wires, but found this was not required, you can quite clearly hear the messages and warnings with the helmet on, at speed you need to listen a little harder but at intersection and town speeds there is no problem with hearing the messages. I had to use the 12 volt power from the motorcycle for 3 to 4 hours is not long enough operational time when you are out for day or weekend rides.

Post Fitted 2 Suzi and Kawa all good

The Tom Tom One v 140 have been fiited to a Suzi Bandit 1200 and a Kawa GTR1400 this afternoon, mounted to flat plate by drilling 2 holes through the suction cup mount and screwing to plate with small long screws and nuts, still able to tilt angle up and down and cig power connector fits okay from underneath. Also made up weather proof covers from plastic rectangle plunbing down pipe 90 degree angles and made cut outs to suit for other wiring for bluetooth uhf radio connections that I have mounted underneath GPS. I only bluetooth the 5 watt uhf radio for I can hear the GPS fine into the helmet. It took about 3 hours to modify all the brackets, mounts and cable tie all the wiring back up , for I changed from Tom Tom V3 to the V 140.

Post TomTom Works Fine On Motorcycle

Feedback on the use of the TomTom on 2 motorcycles is that they have work with out fault. The weather proof cases I made have been through rain, hail and shine without any adverse affect on the tom toms. Both are powered via cig lighter connection from the motorcycles, no problem with loosing power during 10 hour rides. I have UHF two way radio's connected via blue tooth to the helmets, found there is no requirement for tom tom's to be Blue toothed to helmets, have no problem hearing the tom tom speaker due to tom tom being mounted behind the screen on the mnotorcycles hence sound is loud and clear and can be heard from inside the helmet. I was a little concerned at first with the screen size, thought about the XL size but that would have consubed a large amount of area on the motorcycle, but the smaller size is easy to read whilst riding. I have not hesitation to recommended these tom toms for use on a motorcycle. I would recommend not mounting any GPS that has a hard drive built into the GPS for my expirance with those GPS's is that when it goes to access the hard drive whilst riding it gets all corupt and does not work,

Post Use between cars and motorcycles

I have been using these tom tom's both on the motorcycles and in a number of cars, interchanging use regulary. I had to purchase extra windscreen mounts for I dismantled the ones that came with the units and modified them to mount of the motorcycles. I do find sometimes in the car it does take a little longer for the units to latch onto satilites, ther use to be satilite updates for my old tom toms but this option has not to date appeared when I connect the tom toms to Tom Tom Home. I assume this is no longer a requirement to know were the satliltes are for these new tom toms? Can anyone advise if the satlilite updates are still an option that should appear when connecting to tom tom home.
