I have a Navigon 4350 GPS and would like to know does anybody know how to load Poi Files onto one of these as Navigon dont have any software that you can use to do that.
I have a Navigon 3300 max and live in Australia (not sure what country you are from).
Having the same requirement as you (primarily as installed POIs on my Navigon appear to be all European or American), I also need a tool to install local POIs. Actually I contacted the Australian support phone (02) 9772 9200 and the support member advised that you cannot add additional POIs as these are included with map updates from Navigon. Pointed out to OZ support that this is the next problem. There is no listed update map for Australia for purchase on the Navigon web site. I suggested that Navigon Australia had better get their act together as the Navigon GPS is now being heavily marketed by at least three major Australian Department stores.
Anyway back to POI installs. I am waiting for a response back from their technical area to see if the pacage will suit the Navigon 3300 max.
Spoke to the store where I purchased the GPS, and the big drawback is that, if the sfw knackers the Navigon 3300 max, then the installation of the sfw will void the warantee.
I like the features and price of the Navigon 3300 max, but am beginning to think that maybe I should return to the store and pay the extra $100 for a Garmin or TomTom, anyway I will wait fro feedback from the POI people before making a final decision.
However, it's funny you need to buy an extra software to add extra POI files to the Navigon navigator. It seems bad business to sell you a GPS navigator and then not to be able to add your favorite points of interest.
I have 4 years old Garmin GPS (still working well) and that does load POIs with POI Loader software that costs me nothing!
The whole idea of having a car navigation product that makes it hard to add one's own lists is bad business model.
I 've got a Navigon 2110 Max as a gift for Christmas. I'll change it for a decent GPS 1st thing next week.
I'm in the same boat, bought this Navigon 3300 max and a smaller one for a friend. After a few months the suction cup support broke. I managed to get another one and adapted it from another brand. A few months later my friend couldn't use hers, the screen would barely respond. Then on top, I discovered when I bought it, the map was already outdated. I don't think I will ever get another Navigon despite needing a new GPS as no new maps are available.
