You can't enter the street name without the town/city, but if for example you known the city eg. Perth but don't know what suburb it is in, then you just type in Perth, and then the street name and it will still find the street.
Can find a street using map view, but no city for it
Hi, still on the same question. I want to enter Bentley Road, Tullera (just north of Lismore NSW 2480 off the Dunoon Road). I can select the road using map view, however there is no city associated with Bentley Road - I tried Lismore, Dunoon, Bexhill...any ideas greatly appreciated.
if you are in the country area you put in the region like central west slopes and plains or hunter valley or south west slopes and plains not sure what up north is but if you from there you would have a idea what it is

I found this 'feature' very frustrating with TomTom units and is the reason for moving to Garmin for my motorcycle GPS unit Zumo550. If you don't know the city you can just select search all.
How can I select a street name without entering the town?
I have found that alot of the country areas don't have street names on the maps and some even have differnt names to what is on the local signpost. I have experienced this in the far south of NSW.
The other thing I can suggest is try a cross road or street or suburb to try.
This is ridiculous, any good GPS system should ask for a street fist then give you an option of city/town to choose from if you are not sure of which City / Town it falls under. I live in Pennington SA and the road name is under Kelso.
EPIC Fail on Tomtom's behalf
