What a waste of time. I am in 9th hour of downloading and upgrading my Garmin GPS. Info states 1 minute to go. I have been on hold for that minute for almost an hour!!!!

As I have read, no it is not my computer. I have had larger downloads in many times faster. This is a Garmin issue!!!!

I agree, this is a GARMIN ISSUE... I bought a Nuvi 2599 today & it's taking over 5 hours. Progress bar is running. This is a joke. It's not my internet connection either. I know what is running on all my machines (MAC, LINUX & Windows machines).

Thanks Garmin, my Nuvi 65 doesn't work anymore! It's frozen after the first time I tried to update it.

Post The real reason Garmin Map Updates are slow. (IMHO)

I am a network engineer, there is no technical excuse for this in today's world. I have used fast computers, slow computers, and fast and slow internet, on this site, the results are the same. The problem is the Garmin end, they won't invest in better servers because the maps are free (mostly) and the server maintenance is a simple drain on the profit line. Perhaps, frustrated people, would pay $50 or $100 for an "express service"?

Back from a great ride keen to see results and yet another Garmin slow update - wish I hadn't spent £300 with them!

Post Problems following Garmin update on 12.5.16

I updated yesterday and tried to use Garmin today ! Due to various road closures around the Runcorn area even Garmin got lost and couldn't even direct me to the nearest A road. The views showed the car going through fields not roads and setting it to get home gave me road numbers which I did not recognise and certainly couldn't find to get me home so we went a different route which we knew.

Am trying to reinstall the maps to see if it works now! Don't like the new instructions using navigational directions such as North West and South West! What is required is turn right or left!

Shocked Crazy how long it takes to update the maps. I opted for N.A. only and the 3 hour update stuck at 37.6%. I restarted and am now back to 14.4% an hour later. - didn't help restarting I guess. Oh well, I have a few weeks before vacation so hopefully it finishes before then.

Same problem over here, starts fast with 30 MB/s and after a few minutes it slows down to 73kb/s. I expect better service, they are letting the customers down. Garmin again?

Same problem here. Garmin Express started the update at 19.00 yesterday, now it's 2.00. The update is stuck at 50% for the past 3 hours.
Tomorrow I'll return it, and go for any other brand.

It has taken me at least a couple of hours every tiem I have updated a Garmin and I have had a least 6 of them in my life. My download speed is just fine. I can download a GB in just a few seconds. Every here is saying it's the speed of the connection, it's NOT, it's the GPS.

Why can they just download the update so we can just put it on a memory card and stick it in the unit? Simple.
