My Tomtom will switch on, display the splash screen (palm tree) for a few seconds then switch off. If I switch it on with the USB cable connected, it will connect ok via the USB port and communicate with HOME/Windows explorer ( I can even operate it through HOME). I have tried formatting the internal drive etc and reloading a good backup but still the same. I have also used the clear flash program.
Hi.
When you say it switches off, do you mean completely? Even the green small led? It seems to me to have something to do with the power and not with the operating system. You also say that it works when you connect it to your computer. In this case the power is surely there. Does it work in your car with power from your cigarette lighter?
Hi! He may be right !
Although this problem is also quite often a corrupt TT O/S (tomtom operating system), I have fixed this in the past by deleting everything off the HDD or sd card, then plug it into TT Home software . It then recognizes the empty drive and offers to reinstall and download new system and basic maps.
-=MAKE SURE YOU DO A FULL BACKUP FIRST!!=-
ALSO MAKE SURE THE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED!
