I guess, for avoidance of doubt: @gdarby, when you want to update your data, download the updated file(s) and overwrite over the top of the existing ones. i.e. download (where relevant/exists): - Garmn POI BMP (the icon for the map) - Garmin MP3 (or WAV if you have a 2xx model) - one of the following, in the following order of availability: Garmin GPX > Garmin POI > Garmin POI GPX > Garmin POI CSV |

Greetings, since I have been a member here for about two hours - I guess this Newbie section is a good spot for me. Every time I think I have it figured out I quickly realize that I don't!
I have a little confusion as I keep reading that there is only one POI file and any change creates a "replacement file". Is this also in reference to the original POI's that were provided with the GPS? |

And if not, does the GPS display/use both the POI's that I add along with the originals simultaneously? |

If the originals are stored differently, where are they found? |

I am assuming when you do a map update (from Garmin) that it updates their original POI's? |

If so, does that mean that a map update will wipe out anything (POI's) I have added? |

You HAVE to use POI Loader to get the updates into your GPS. ALL your poi files are grouped/coded into 1 (one) POI.GPI fole and then loaded to your GPS. |
