Hi People, has any one had any luck with the maps ?
Anyway , I have so here goes , if you have downloaded the maps, there should be 1 directory called navman and a text file called source, now follow the very simple instructions below, I think you guys were making the job harder than it actually is !! This does 100% work and for you info, I used a micro sd card (2gb) in a sd card adaptor, so I don't think the type of SD card has alot to do with anything either
The only simple secret to make your device recognise any sd card as it is the original is that we copy the "NAVMAN" folder for example in the sd card as also the file Source.txt.
Then you must edit the Source.txt file and there where it says the Par NUM: SW007185B for example, we copy the part number of your device which is located at the backside of the device written on a grey tab...not the barcode..
then you save the file and have a nice day!!!

The device checks this number when you power on and it will recognise it as it is the internal memory or something like this

has anyone tried copying the contents of an 'original' european micro SD card onto a new one, and inserting this in a UK F20 without any other mods??

I don't know what you people are doing wrong but the instructions I gave do 100% work, why would I post a message if it did n't ??
1 , Which map SD card do you have ? I have Western Europe
2 , How is the layout of your SD card , mine have one directory called navman and one file called source.txt , these are both in the root of the sd card, maybe if you do not have them in this format the navman won't work.
3, did you make sure that you put in your serial number, and not the other number that is on the grey tab ?
I am here to help if some one has any questions,
Also does any one have a up to date version of the UK maps ?

Morning Billy8,
First - thanks for the info.

Second a bit of clarification about file structure, should it be:

CARD -
NAVman folder + source.txt (in card root) -
map folders + xml etc (as subdirectories)

OR

CARD -
map folders + xml etc + source.txt (in card root)

Thanks,
Ed

If I buy an SD card then it is completely independent of the F20 I have so there is no relationship between the two. I don't see why changing the part number in the Source Text file would change anything.

I have downloaded a map of Europe and used the suggested file structure and the maps appear on the Preferences -> Manage maps option but when I select a map and then go to find an address the message is: No Map Data.

Hi Billy8,
I suppose I have the same European data as you, but I can't get it to work.
Especially Mainly the code on the gray tab doesn't correspond to the SW007185B format in your example
My gray tab reads
Code:
/\ NAVMAN
    F20

AB115813-7D3
CANADA 310
MADE IN INDONESIA
XFCCEV
     Z080

I have this data on my sd card:
Code:

What is the format of the serial number on the units that do and don't work. My serial starts with 2 letters then 6 digits. I can't get it to accept the maps. I notice that the serial quoted ends with a letter. Are we looking at 2 different units here?

This doesn't work.
I have copied my SD card (UK) and the same happens, maps can be selected in the "manage maps" section but when you try and use them "no map data" appears.
Could it be a bootloader issue?
