I thought I'd set proximity alerts for cameras in Mapsource, and found out my Nuvi didn't say a word about them. Then Garmin support said oh no, that doesn't matter, you need to use the POILoader and not Mapsource to transfer that information back into the Nuvi, if you just use Mapsource, teehee, the information doesn't transfer.
OK, so I used the POIloader, and now the Nuvi goes "bong bong" before eveyr camera location. And...goes "bong bong" and makes a proximity alert on EVERY WAYPOINT that I get near.
I didn't ask it to do that. Before I call Garmin again...is there a simple cure for that? I doubelchecked in Mapsource, and the extra waypoints going "bong bong" very definitely DO NOT have proximity alerts set for them. And my Nuvi was just updated over the web last week.
1. select Tools menu
2. select Settings
3. select Proximity Points
4. there will be a box next to the word "Alerts" that says "Enabled". Touch the word "Enabled"
5. select Audio at the bottom of the screen
6. now you have 3 options: "Single Tone", "Continuous - Speed Alerts" or "Continuous - All Alerts". Try different settings on this screen
7. back up to the "Alerts" screen and try checking or unchecking some of the selections here to see what happens.
