Some toerags broke into my car... and got my sat nav... a broken window and inside messed up... Cops were not interested...
Is it possible for sat nav to be disabled so no one can use it? How about a pin code that you have to input every time you turn it on? Any advice folks?

You know what the worst part is: they now know your home address and your car. They can easily track you and rob your unattended home, thanks to tomtom home software. Do you have some good home security system installed?

Just a bit of advice, don't leave your TomTom in the car, and don't programme your home address in, add it to your favourites under your own or partners name.

Remove windscreen suction mount and take GPS with you. Windscreen suction mount attracts them.

Surprised you did not set PIN from TTHome. You do it by running Operating my GO, then when running, Preferences, Set Owner

I leave name/address details either blank or something like "Substantial Reward Paid if returned to Razor Eddie" - Usually is blank, but you have 4 lines to write on, then it asks if you want a set a password.

Once set, it can only be unset from the GO itself not from TTHome

My sat nav was stolen from my girlfriends work. Does anyone think its worth reporting it to the police? I dont think its covered by any insurance so is there rae other reason to report it other than getting a crime number?

Also once you remove the suction cup clean the surface with a rag or your jumper or anything ro remove the suction cup residue left behind. They can also see that from outside.

Garmins have Garmin lock built in, also its recommended not to add a 'home' location unless you want the thieves to visit you and get the rest of your stuff!

I always carry a microfibre cloth in the car to wipe off any suction mount marks on the windscreen and always hide EVERYTHING regarding the gps out of sight. The microfibre works wonders, heaps better than tissue.

Thanks all - good advice - a young fellow, I believe 23 years old, was arrested the other day in Sydney believed to have stolen over 200 gps units from vehicles in just 3 months!

Bugger about your sat nav, i guess that it is a lesson to the rest of us to maybe enable the security feature to stop these pilfering people

I've always taken my unit down & hidden it, but I've never really thought about removing the suction cup markings on the windshield before... gonna have to keep a microfiber towel in the car from now on. Thanks for that tip!
