POI ov2 file too big

I want to download a file that is 7.19MB to my TomTom and I cannot reduce the size. Is there a way to add this as I keep getting an error to say that the limit is 2GB. I had a more basic model TomTom previously and I was able to upload the file with no issues.

TomTom suggest I split the file into 3-4 parts but I haven't been able to do that either. I've tried using the tool on here to convert the file to CSV so that I can copy and paste into notepad and resave the file but the tool keeps telling me that the file is too big. I have registered and paid the fee but it still won't work.

Please can someone help!

Hi Lucy,
What happens when you try to open your OV2 file with our GPX Editor for Garmin? It can open and convert larger files than our other online GPS tools. Do you still get the same message?

Hi Mark,

No, I then get to another screen but to be honest, I'm then not sure what to do next to convert the file. When I use the CSV drop down, I get an excel sheet with only one entry? Would you be able to point me in the right direction please?

Re: POI ov2 file too big

Hi,

Try with a small OV2 file first, just to see what happens You can convert / extract data from your existing file in a few steps.
Go to:
- GPX POI Editor: https://www.gps-data-team.com/convert/
- Open file
- Select your file (and wait to load your file)
- Save converted file

Important: Wait to load your source file. It can take up to 5 minutes to load LARGE files.

Please let me know if you have any further issues with any POI editor and converter tools.

Re: POI ov2 file too big

I had issues working with and converting the .CSV for the 3100 mile Race Across America route. I worked around the issues by opening it in Excel, splitting it in 3 segments, converting them to OV2 and then loading them to my TomTom Via 1535. The TomTom had plenty of room to load the files, in fact, it has unlimited room for such files. In operation, the track segments played seamlessly, we never knew whether we were following the 1st segment, 2nd segment, or 3rd segment.
