| Posted by ebu44 Garmin Maps and 50km/hr Zones in Local Streets I just bought a Garmin Drive 60 - to replace my old but reliable cheapo Navig8r T50B - and feel like I have taken several steps backwards in a number of areas. The main step back is that the Garmin seems to have no clue what the speed limit is in local streets (whereas my old Navig8r would reliably display 50 in the local streets). I realise that you might just say "well surely you can just assume it is 50km/hr if there is no sign and the Garmin speed display is blank" ... and I guess I can ... but there are plenty of streets that are part residential and part industrial ... or part residential and part commercial ... or part residential and part retail ... so how can I tell if they are 50 or 60?? I am pretty amazed that my old $60 Navig8r was able to tell me local speed limits and not my $280 Garmin? Am I missing something? Cheers, Scott |

The most expensive part is a brand/name. You get what you pay. What is Navig8r? Use it if you like it. I would always go for a big brand (ALDI or Garmin). |
