| Posted by Tactical Pay to update maps on Nuvi 255w or buy a new GPS? I have a Nuvi 255w which is now many years old. It works OK but its UK/Europe maps have never been updated. I'm seeking your recommendations please... Is it worthwhile paying for a UK/Europe map update for the 255w or buying a new GPS with UK/Europe lifetime updates? Are new GPSs now so much better than the Nuvi 255w that it is better to go the buy new route? And if so, what would you recommend please? |

| Posted by basirb Re: Map update I'm still happy with my old Garmin. I updated maps 5 years ago. I look where I drive (street signs) and occasionally use Google maps on Samsung with built in GPS, just as a backup for any missing street. Cheers |
| Posted by ruardie7 nuvi255w / nuvi 55 I have just purchased a new nuvi55 and was surprised to find out when I attemted to charge up my new Nuvi 55 with the Garmin charger it informed me that I was to use the charger supplied in the box,so I changed cables and lo behold it worked.The reason I am writng this because I had not been able to get my LIFE time updates on my 255w for approx 5 months.So i updated my Garmin xpress pluged in my new cable (from the new 55 )and recieved all the updates from the past 5 months.So now my 225 is as good as before and up to date.plus I have an extra GPS . :oops: :oops: :shock: |
