| Posted by ancives Images and messages on POIs Hi, I am a newbie in Garmin. I loaded a few free POIs from this site but on my Garmin I can only find the points. I don't see any image when I'm navigating and no message appears when I drive in the near of that point. Is there a way to associate images and messages to a POI point? And if yes, how can I do this? Thanks for the help :roll: |

| Posted by johmazz2006 Re: Images and messages on POIs Hi, you have to download the sound files as well as the image files with the same name, but different extensions. The sound file is the MP3 or WAV file, depending on your GPS model. (try the MP3 file first) The image file id the .BMP file. All need to be put into the same directory and loaded to the GPS via a free program called POI Loader, as explained here: http://poidirectory.com/forum/topic/33.html Hope this helps. |

Start up your Garmin. I have a 3790t but most models use a similar menu. Click..."Where to" Click...."Extras" you may need to scroll down to get it. Click...."Custom POI's" There will be a list of categories.... Click on the category you are looking for. The list in that category will appear. If you have only downloaded the .csv file the points will be there . But to get an alert onscreen you have to also download (to the folder you use for updating your Garmin) the .bmp file (this gives you the icon onscreen when you approach the point) and the audio file mp3 usually to give the audio warning from the Garmin unit. SO it appears that you have only downloaded the file which gives you the points....but not the audio/visual warnings. |
