How to install extra Osmand POI

Osmand uses GPX POI files: https://www.gps-data-team.com/poi/

How to install extra POIs to Osmand:

1. Put the file under osmand directory on your sd card:
osmand/tracks/your_file.gpx
2. Restart Osmand and it should be there.

It seems that this approach creates waypoints and not POIs. How do you get POIs? I tried to create a .osm file and then OSMmapcreator to generate a pbf file. Even though the pbf file appears to be about 1kb in size, in OSMAnd it thinks the file has 0kb and none of the POIs show up. I tried restarting the phone and still no luck. I may be stuck with Waypoints and a track. But would sure like to figure out how to get POIs instead.

Interesting topic. Do you use paid Osmond? Any guide from the Osmond company?
I can add an Osmond format to our POI Downloads page if you find what is the right file format for you.

I do use the paid version of OSMAnd and the procedure I've followed so far is the one I've managed to find by searching all over the OSM community, at least the one I can figure out how to do. What I'm trying to do is actually convert a csv or gpx file that I obtained from another app. This app uses maps that are downloaded on the fly, not off line maps. So I've been trying to get this data into OSMAnd so that I can use the off-line maps I've already downloaded there. I'm not all that familiar with OSM map formats so I'm sort of flying blind on this. I need to keep this local, because the private data belongs to someone else. I'm just trying to make easier for my own personal use.

The CSV file is pretty simple: Column A = long, Column B = lat, and Column C = Label

Re: How to install extra Osmand POI

Hi Caryl,

I do not use Osmand maps. I am surprised that Osmond does not have that (essential) feature well explained somewhere. These days even cheap Chinese bricks can easily load extra POIs. They never contacted us to include their file format to our POI Editor / POI Zone.

Please let me know if you find the right way to import third party POIs to Osmand and Andrew will include that format to all POI conversion tools.

Regards
