New French Speed Camera Law

Equipment which detects a radar signal has always been banned in France but new laws for 2012 take it further by banning 'driver aids' which incorporate data giving a warning of where speed cameras are located. Clearly this includes GPS devices with camera data. Also, will GPS users be prosecuted for not knowing how to remove the data from their devices? The penalty for the new offence is steep - a fine of up to 1500 €. Mind, it'll be hard to enforce! PhilG

The government has to get some funds from somewhere to attempt to fix the economy........Looks like the motorist gets it in the neck again.......

It really does seem to show that Speed Camera's are designed to raise revenue rather than promote slower speeds in known accident zones (black spots).

As the GPS is now part of so many phones and car's they need to raise revenue by limiting its use. As its obviously working to ensure that people are following the speed limit in those supposed black spots.

"Danger Zones" in France

From what I have read recently it appears that you are allowed to have "Danger Zones" being flagged up on your GPS which could indicate that a camera may be in use over the next 4 km.
Now all I need to do is find out how to get this information for my Nuvi.
