Problems after uploading new POI (speed cameras)

I followed the instructions to upload the speed camera database via the POI Loader.

I can now see an extra poi file (can't remember the extension) in the POI directory on my Garmin Nuvi 1490T.

As I hadn't overwritten anything or deleted anything, so I did expect the old speed camera stuff to be there, which it was.

Problem is, it's now alerting me to other speed cameras which haven't been there for around a year (this is on the M1).

Also, after going though the area where the speed cameras were (J25 - J28 of the M1) - the speed camera alert thing (red box) was stuck on the screen after I turned off the motorway. I had to restart the sat nav to get rid of it.

I have two questions:

1) How do I get rid of the old speed camera info?
2) How do I get more recent speed camera info (have I done something wrong).

Just thought, I have a third question. In Leicestershire, quite a few roads which were NSL (60mph) have been reduced to 50mph. Should these new limits be included on the speed camera database, or can I get that elsewhere?

Am I correct in thinking that this is the first time you've loaded SpeedCamera POIs onto your unit?

My 765 came with sample speedcamera files - in the \Garmin\POI folder on the unit there are a number of files, including "UKIrelandCyclopsSample.gpi". That's the freebie which is meant to tempt you to subscribe to the Garmin SpeedCameras update (£20/year - a bit more expensive than this forum!). I suspect you've got the same file on your unit.

What I think you're getting is readings from both the Cyclops file and your own POIs. If you delete (or remane - I changed the extension to ".saf") the Cyclops file it won't pick up those (old) warnings, only the new ones.

That will automagically give you the latests (as uploaded) details. You can then keep it up to date as the information becomes available on this site.

As regards your last point, the speed limits on the roads are contained in the routing information on the maps and that's something we have to wait for until the mapping provider finally gets around to delivering.

That's exactly what I've got. I'll delete the Cyclops file (I've got a copy on my PC just in case) and see how I get on. I can't understand how I'm getting more out of date camera warning with the new POI uploaded - suggests that the POI isn't accurate

I did pay for a lifetime map update from Garmin. My 1490T has been updated, though it hasn't updated the speed limits. I'm fully expecting the 1490T with the updated maps to know nothing of the new M74 extension in Glasgow. I'll find that out this Saturday. Google Maps hasn't got this new road on yet either which is surprising..

Thanks for your help :)

Very Newbie question

I am trying to download the US Safety Cameras/Speed. Here are my steps:

#1: GPS POI files for: USA
#2:Catagory: Safety in the United States
#3:USA safety cameras
Country: United States POI
Category: Safety in the United States
#4 Download POI

I can download the bmp and and the mp3 files, but when I try to download the CVS or GPX files, it asks for the download format - when I select the only option it goes back to the download page and won't do ANYTHING!

What am I going wrong?
