Kenwood KNA-431AU POI Capabilities.

Hi GPs guru's
A couple of questions:
1. Is there any advantage using a GPX file over a CSV file.
2. Does the above unit support mp3 files for proximity warnings ?
3. schools Zones - does this unit support school zones well.
4. What doesnt it do that later units do (apart from ecoRoute.

I am looking (like everyone ) to benefit from the greater wealth of Info relating to Speed Camera's and School Zone.

It seems that schools are defined and therefore the surrounding roads are nominated to be 40Km/hr during school hours but some schools have multiple entrances/frontages with various schol speed zones applied ..
Any Info how this device deals with school zone csv/gpx file.

I will try and do some testing but some documentation would be nice to limit the amount of testing I need to do to get the best from my unit ? Naturally I am more than happy to upload my findings for the "greater good"

And other answers to my own questions.
Sounds : It looks like the KNA-431 cannot do anything with the *.mp3 sound files. The only thing you can get is a bong-bong when over speed for a speed camera or overspeed within xxx metres proximity

SChool Zones:
This is a curly one, the POI loader doesnt seem to recognise the speed setting in the the file in express mode. Also setting a distance on the POIloader doesnt seem to work (at least not below 400m).

Speed Camera's: : These sem to work if the file is called bla_speed_60.csv with POILOader, it will recognise the speed and set a distance approximating about 36 seconds warning (40kmh = 400metres)
iI cant seem to change it with the CSV file).

RedLight CAmera's - only seem to be settable to 36 seconds of warning.

Alan,

I think you may need to include SOX.EXE in the POI Loader folder to get sounds to work.

Thee are quite a number of posts about this with the various Garmin models in the Garmin forum (and I think the Kenwood is a rebadged Garmin).
