| Posted by brianfw4 Garmin 3760 experience with MP3, WAV and SOX I have found it difficult to find out what POI file extensions the Garmin 3760 requires. As I could not find any information, I tried downloading BMP, GPX and MP3 road safety files. I was disappointed to discover that I do not get the spoken warnings I used to get on my old 760 Garmin. I did notice the advice on this site that told me WAV files were only for Garmin "2XX" models. I had no idea what that meant, so I am repeating the whole exercise using as many BMP, GPX and WAV files as I can find. I also found a posting that cautioned me to include SOX.EXE in the folder containing the POILoader file. I have done so. When I complete this time-consuming task of re-installing all these safety files, I will report again as to its success (or otherwise). |

| Posted by brianfw4 Nuvi 3760 Spoken Messages - Update I have now tried WAV files and MP3 files. I have also placed a copy of SOX.EXE in the POILoader folder. The resulting installation in my new Nuvi 3760 does nothing but 'ding' and show warning icons for all safety alerts. What have they done to us? My old Nuvi 760 had no problem with MP3 files. Any suggestions to get this new machine talking would be very welcome! My attempts with WAV files were rejected by POILoader. I then put all the MP3 files back and updated the Nuvi 3760. I get 'dings' and warning icons when a safety issue arises, but I cannot get this machine to TALK to me!! Any help would be appreciated. |

| Posted by brianfw4 Nuvi 3760 Solution I finally worked it out. Here is a summary for any who follow this path: http://poidirectory.com/forum/topic/33.html *Download only the BMP, GPX and WAV files for the required POIs. Assemble these in their own folder. *Download and install the POILOADER software. This will place a copy of POILOADER.EXE in a folder under Program Files. Make a note of the exact path to this file, as you will need it. *Download the file SOX.EXE: http://poidirectory.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2500#5535 and place it in exactly the same folder that contains POILOADER.EXE. *Connect your device to your computer. *Run POILOADER.EXE and tell it where your POI files are located. During the upload to your device, your security software may ask your permission to run SOX.EXE. Give the OK, and the upload should complete. I am pleased to report that all my audio safety messages are now being delivered correctly. |

Almost certainly the problem was that the SOX.EXE file was in the wrong place. I did this & had the same problem - until I realised (after much frustration!) that sox.exe must be in the exact directory of PoiLoader - I had mine in a shortcut folder on the desktop along with the shortcut for PoiLoader). As soon as I did this the wav files uploaded to my 3790 perfectly. |
