Posted by hgmillichap Wrong maps? Upload from where? gmapsupp.img is normally a custom mapset transferred from Mapsource. Maybe your problem is that the maps in your file are not compatible with the GPS unit???Maybe. What was the other device? |

Posted by julie.kilner Map update Yes, but the file was created by MapSource and stored on my PC. I removed the pre-existing gmapbmap.img, gmapprom.img, gmapbmap.sum and GMAPPROM.unl (CREATING A BACKUP FIRST) so that I could save some space on my GPS. And then I cut and pasted the gmapsupp.img file onto my nuvi. J |

How long ago was it created? Are the maps compatible? |

Map should be renamed gmapprom.img if there is no other map on the garmin. gmapsupp.img is only there to supplement the original map. You may also find that the Map is locked to one garmin being the original therefore you will have to use some sort of unlocker. All Garmin maps are compatable with each device with some problems in Europe at the moment being that they have new maps over 2 gb. Definate way of loading maps is to put all info back on gps and then get a SD card. On sd card create a folder called Map and then place gmapsupp.img into MAP folder. Interesting point you can place all different gmapsupp.img files in that folder with the same name and the garmin can tell the differance. |

Posted by jarpenner Maps are unique to your GPS Unit Julie, The maps you are referring to are unique and can only be used on the GPS Model and Serial number they were purchased with or updated with. You cannot share your map with other GPS devices. |
