Posted by kurtzindustries Garmin Nuvi 750 cant keep in car Well, I live in Florida and left my nuvi in car on craddle unplugged. When I came back out it wouldn't turn on and felt hot so I brought it home and put it in front of fan for hour... still nothing so I heard if you pull on switch to left for a few seconds it resets it and that works... Is this normal? |

Posted by atulbha Reset Sounds like the battery just died, happens all the time. The hot part, maybe cause you live in Florida? lol |

Posted by johmazz2006 750 Sounds like it was overheated and after you cooled the unit and did a reset it operates ok again. There is a safety cutout built in to stop damaging circuits etc, and allows it to be reset when cooled down. Suggest leaving it on the floor in car, or a cooler area than on the hot dashboard in a locked car without any ventilation. |

Most of the heat issue can be avoided by stopping the direct sun light. If removing the unit from the mount is not an practical option, placing a white cloth over it may provide a reasonable protection most of the time. But will not handle excruciating heats, like leaving the car baking on a +105F sun. Under extreme heat, I doubt even under the seat or on the floor wont be enough. |

Posted by johmazz2006 Re: 750 Here in Australia along the NSW and Vic border it got to OVER 44 deg C for 14 days in a row this year, (111deg F.) and inside car, well ???? in excess of 55 degC/130deg F and my GPS still worked every time as it was left in storage box between seats. Would guess that temperature on black dashboard was nearing 100 deg C as it will blister your hands very easily, so would definitely leave it in the cradle. |

Posted by ross.bowden3 Try a Restart I have had similar problems with my Nuvi 760 when left in the vehicle in hot sun. What works is to let the unit cool and do a restart. Slide the Power Key to the left and hold in that position for 8 - 10 seconds. Then turn the unit back on. All should function normally. :D |
