Posted by Maria Converting excel-file to POI-file for TomTom I'm a beginner using the Navigator professionally - and looking for instructions on how I can create a POI-file for my TomTom Go 930 out of my excel-file containing 1000 places, each with LONG & LAT in decimal degrees and name. Grateful for any help! Maria |
Posted by Mark Re: Converting excel-file to POI-file for TomTom Hi 1. Save your Excel file as a CSV 2. Load it with a POI Editor for Garmin: https://www.gps-data-team.com/convert.php 3. Save it as a TomTom OV2 file to your PC, and 4. Save it to your Tom Tom Regards |
Posted by Maria Tomtom create POI from excel list Thanks, but it still doesn't work. I have saved the excel-file in CSV-format. Converted it to ov2-format and loaded it on to the Navigator. But searching for it on the Navigator - it seemes to be empty. Looking on the file it seems to be semicolon separated, so I tried to edit the csv-file - searching and replaceing into comma. I run MacOS -does that matter? Maria |
Posted by Mark Re: Tomtom create POI from excel list Maria, CSV stands for a Comma Separated Values (Mac & PC). Go to https://www.gps-data-team.com/convert.php and open a POI Editor, create a simple sample file (with e.g. your home location), save it as a CSV and OV2 and replicate that sample line format... It is explained here: https://www.gps-data-team.com/pda-gps-navigation/forum/3.html Regards |
