Posted by caesar Mac - Uploading POI'S I have a Mac. I copied then deleted the POI's from my Garmin. This a copy of the file on this site.. Garmin POI BMP Garmin POI CSV Garmin POI GPX Garmin MP3 (Audio alert for Garmin POI file) Garmin WAV (Audio alert for Nuvi 2xx models) Garmin upload (direct) Garmin POI (Custom POI with extended info) Garmin GPX (proximity alert, phone dial, etc.) The way I read the advice I need: Garmin POI BMP Garmin MP3 Garmin GPX and use the POI Uploader. Is this correct? Why the Garmin POI GPX...small file... and Garmin GPX...much larger file/ Under what circumstances would anyone want the smaller file, assuming it is not a disk capacity problem? |

Posted by caesar MAC - uploading POI's Disregard all the above. The MAC clearly has issues. I am successfully using an old PC to load the 3790t. |

I think you may need to read this post/thread. http://poidirectory.com/forum/topic/3418.html I did. Now my POIs work fine and I am using a Mac |

Posted by rupert Re: Mac - Uploading POI'S Ah, I see you are talking specifically about the speed camera POIs |

Posted by caesar MAC-Uploading POI's Yes...speed camera POI's. I want to use the MAC ...I use it for everything else, but I am fortunate in that I kept the old Windows laptop. I cannot see how it could be finger trouble, as the POI Loader is the same...simply a Mac version. What seems unachievable on the Mac was a snap on the PC so I am leaving well enough alone now that the info is loaded. Hopefully it will be fixed in a software update. |

Posted by Guest Re: Mac - Uploading POI'S I also use a Mac (and a Zumo 550) and was having problems. I got clear instructions from another post and it now works: 1. Group your POI files by category in a sub-directory on your hard drive. For example, starting at the highest level: /My POIs/Starbucks/ Starbucks.csv Starbucks.bmp Starbucks.mp3 /My POIs/Speed Cameras/ Speed.csv Speed.bmp Speed.mp3 /My POIs/Cracker Barrel/ Cracker Barrel.csv Cracker Barrel.bmp Cracker Barrel.mp3 2. Notice that all the files within a category are named exactly the same (case sensitive) 3. Connect your GPS to the Mac 4. Load POI Loader 5. Select on your GPS where you want the new POIs installed 6. Select the root level of your POIs on your Mac (/My POIs in our example) 7. Select Manual installation Now the POI loader will go through each of the category subdirectories and give you options whether or not to load each category, and the ability to define the Speed / Distance option on when to alert on each POI. |
