Hi,

How do you turn on spoken street names?

Does it need to be the default voice for it to work?

I have downloaded additional voices from the Garmin site and im using those but wont tell me what street i need to turn onto.

thanks

To change it back, you need to go back in set up page then chose language and then chose voice with speak street name, done.

Will that enable the spoken street names by reverting back to the original voice?

Street Names

Pretty sure this only works with the defaults (male or female). I haven't ventured beyond the English border since buying mine, but I can't wait to see what it does with Welsh names! I'll be driving with it in Spain next week though so that should be good for a laugh.

Did you down load the right voice file (with street name)?
If yes, then just change it in set up then reset the unit (wait for 30 second) then turn unit back on.

If you are in Aus, only choose oz english and will be fine.

Yes, I can confirm that using the standard default UK English voice gives some weird effects when quoting Spanish place and road names. Torremolinos was very oddly stressed, as Torre- MOL -inos (doesn't he play for Arsenal?) and the E-15 highway was called "East 15", whilst the MA-106 was the "Massachusetts One Hundred and Six"!

I can't even put into writing what it made of the Autovía del Mediterráneo - by the time it had finished saying it, we were on it!

I can't wait for my next visit to Wales. :D
