TT hack & restore

I have just bought a TT XL IQ routes, and would like to update the core (hack the unit). Obviously I'm a little nervous about invalidating the warranty. Is there some way of taking a flash of the current unit state so I can (attempt) to restore it if something goes wrong?

Copy Contents

:) Hi just plug in unit to usb, go to My Computer and look for TomTom, then select all - copy and paste to a new named folder. Hope this helps.

follow up

:!: Hi also meant to add - make sure on your computer all folders and files are visible as there are some hidden files

flash

does this include the core/ firmware? I mean if I flash a new fimware to the unit and brick it, I'm not sure that just copying the folders back over will restore it, or is that enough?
Thanks for your help!

Should be no problem

Hi, I have successfully done this several times with a TT Go 510, TT one and currently a TT Go 530.
Just make sure you copy all files including hidden ones. Obviously there is always a risk when flashing anything, but mine have all been successful!
Hope this helps you reach a decision, and good luck.
