Posted by andygrey TT hack & restore I have just bought a TT XL IQ routes, and would like to update the core (hack the unit). Obviously I'm a little nervous about invalidating the warranty. Is there some way of taking a flash of the current unit state so I can (attempt) to restore it if something goes wrong? |
Posted by pete.new Copy Contents :) Hi just plug in unit to usb, go to My Computer and look for TomTom, then select all - copy and paste to a new named folder. Hope this helps. |
Posted by pete.new follow up :!: Hi also meant to add - make sure on your computer all folders and files are visible as there are some hidden files |
Posted by andygrey flash does this include the core/ firmware? I mean if I flash a new fimware to the unit and brick it, I'm not sure that just copying the folders back over will restore it, or is that enough? Thanks for your help! |
Posted by pete.new Should be no problem Hi, I have successfully done this several times with a TT Go 510, TT one and currently a TT Go 530. Just make sure you copy all files including hidden ones. Obviously there is always a risk when flashing anything, but mine have all been successful! Hope this helps you reach a decision, and good luck. |
