Posted by billpalmer Downloading POI's direct to your GPS I have a new Garmin 1390T and believe that the 'correct' way to download POI's is to save the POI to my C: // drive, connect the unit to the computer and then use Garmin's POI Loader. However, I have found that I can connect the GPS to my computer, and when asked to Run/Save/Cancel the POI, I can save it straight to the 1390's POI folder. Does my system actually install the POI's in a usable format, or am I missing a stage which might be being performed by the POI Loader? |

Posted by photography3 1390t Downloads You have missed a stage - you must copy the files to C: first then connect the GPS and then activate the gps loader file TO COPY THE FILES TO THE GPS I have a 1490t and it loads the "traffic" ok but for some reason will not load school zones - I have been loading strictly as the instructions C: Garmin/GPS Data Team etc etc but for some reason the files show up in the the GPS unit but will not activate I have put in the wav and bmp files so who knows what has happened. Any thoughts anyone |

Posted by bernienchris updating POI's I am only new here also, however it seems very important to have all your POI's together in 1 folder, then load them all at once using the POI Loader. If you want to update them, I have done the uninstall (option in POI loader) of all existing POI's first, then gone back and loaded all the POI's - existing and updated. This has so far worked very well for me, and I must say I am very impressed with what is on offer. I hope that I can contribute some worthwhile POI's in the future. :D |
