Posted by lpham13 Garmin speakers I find the Garmin POIs at this site to be quite accurate. I just wish that my Garmin has better voice volume. |

Yea.. Garmin should make better speakers. I can barely hear my Garmin 265wt with the windows down. |

Posted by Red Modify the WAV files Some of the Nuvis are just too quiet, I think when Garmin has stuffed too many options inside they just use smaller speakers. http://poidirectory.com/forum/topic/2258.html explains how to modify voice files and as part of the process you are converting the to WAV format. You could use a program like Audacity (free sound file editor, a bit of a learning curve) to boost the overall volume level in the WAV files, then resave them. That would result in a louder "voice", limited only by how far you can push the volume in the .WAV file itself. Often not far, sometimes far enough. |

Posted by johmazz2006 speaker volume I used to use an external speaker with the Streetpilot 3 and sound was very good compared to the internal speaker. The 765 I have now also has a good internal speaker and plenty of volume to spare. |

I've found that putting the volume past 40% on my 1490T causes the speaker to distort. |

Posted by william.beck Re: Speaker volume on 1490T I have just got a 1490T and have downloaded the updates, I have cut the soud back to 50 percent, Compared to my previous 760 it is much louder hence the lower setting |
