Posted by jopa4050 Garmin lifetime updates A great addition to free POI updates. Garmin now do a one off payment for updates as long as you own your gps device. It will update 4 times a year for as long as you own your gps device. |

Posted by johmazz2006 Lifetime updates Have downloaded 2 updates so far and the next is due around end of June 2010. You get 4 updates each year, so well worth the cost. John |

Posted by trevi88 Garmin LIfetime Updates Hi, I've just purchased a nuvi1390T & have already installed the free update which is quite good here in Brisbane except for a few major new roads. Assuming the new update comes out at the end of June, hopefully these new roads will be in that one. I intend to purchase the lifetime update at that time. I would say there is no way of downloading small updates as it appears only the entire file is available. Providing you have a broadband connection, it shouldn't take too long. Thanks |

The simple answer is : NO because you must download complete new set of map. Garmin doesn't send you an update just the new map which is updated at Garmin. As we all 'grow' a bit so are the maps ! More roads, names details etc. One day we may end with a map as big as 500-600MB! If you paid and demand something - here it comes. BTW - the way to speed the download is to get yourself a better connection to the net.... :D |

I do updates quite regularly - have lifetime subscriptions for both nuvi 5000 and nuvi 1350T - they're a great offer from Garmin. If you have a slow internet connection, they WILL take "forever". With high-speed cable internet its quite manageable. The latest North America maps are a 2.2 GB file that takes me about 10 - 15 minutes to download. |
