| Posted by asimsyed Over Speed I have a Garmin Nuvi 265WT, is there any way for the SAT NAV to show that I am over speeding and asking me to Reduce Speed...Mind you I want this function to run when no Speed Cams are nearby.. I had another GPS device before and it used to warn me to reduce speed whilst I over speeded. |

| Posted by johnnywhitlow Tom Tom has Audible Alerts for Speeding, Garmin has a visual Some new GPS models can be set to alert you with a sound once you go over the speed limit. There is no way to change how fast you can go over before it kicks in. It is set to go off once you go 5 MPH over. Garmin will alert you as soon as you go over by any amount by blinking the speed icon. I speek for current model Garmin and TomTom units. Older models may have differences. For example, TomTom Navigator 6 on windows mobile did NOT have the speeding warning. |

| Posted by bgtee Re: Driving over the speed limit I too agree that the red speed limit sign is enough. Would be better if it could be a bigger flash for a couple of seconds though to attract my attention as I don't always look at the GPS. |
| Posted by puddy 30mph or 40mph The nuvi 3490 beeps if you go over the speed limit you can set it to give continuous tone or single tone warning I do like to see the speed limit on the road I am traveling which is why I now have the Nuvi 3490lmt In the UK if no speed limit listed it depends are far the lamp post are apart to tell if it's a 30mph limit or 40mph limit. check UK highway code book I know because my Civil Service Dept. (HMS0)printed the book from 1931 and still have its copyright now. The highway code book is still UK bestselling book (apart from the bible) over 1 million copies of the highway code are sold every year. | Posted by lacasseg Speed warnings Many Magellan GPS have audible traffic warnings. You can set two different thresholds depending on the speed limit zone. For example, you can set the unit to warn you when you exceed by 8km/hr for speeds zones of 70km/hr and slower, and 16km/hr when you are on a 100Km/hr zone highway. I really liked this feature on the Magellan GPS. I tough this simple feature was on all GPS...I will sell my Garmin and go back to Magellan |
