Garmin died

My Garmin 265wt has died, unit starts upto the maps loading window then shuts down, if its connected to pc or car power it just cycles through the garmin window, loading maps screen over and over, unit is just 9 months old.
Any you guys had the same problem?
Garmin service say they have never had this issue before.

Have you tried a master reset on it?

Re: Garmin 265wt died

I haven't had the problem you describe however I have found the Garmin support team to be very helpful. Try contacting them. I am sure you won't be disappointed.

Please remember also the unit is still under warranty and the dealing I have had with Garmin are my dealings, I am sure there will be others out there that have had not so positive experiences. This happens with all organisations.

Nuvi 265wt dies

I have had exactly the same problem on a BRAND NEW unit (Nuvi 265wt).
Support suggested it was a power problem and that I should leave it on charge for at least 4 hours. (During this time is continues to cycle through the load maps and then goes black etc)
Eventually it does correct itself.

I thought this was the end of a glitsch but this fault has happened without warning on 3 more occasions.

I've had enough - the unit is going back for a refund.

Sorry Garmin - I turned to you after disatisfaction with Tomtom. Now I'm going back!

Just got unit back and am not happy, Garmin replaced the unit with a lower model, will be on the phone asap to voice my feelings of being ripped off.

Took the unit back to point of sale, told them the story and gave a letter stating the same, they took over this issue and 24hrs later I got a phone call to go and pickup a new unit. They state that it is better to take faulty units back to the store as they can fix the issue faster than we could.

Dead Garmin

Sorry to hear your problems with your Garmin.

I too had a similar problem with a nuvi 200 but my problems were with the retailer who would not listen to my concerns, once I had given up with the retailer I contacted Garmin customer support and after relating my story to them they asked me to return the unit and within one week they had returned the unit in fine working order and to this day everything has worked well.

Guess the moral of the story is it just depends on which person you get to talk to at customer support at any organisation.
