| Posted by vorak1980 Having trouble with loading POI's into my nuvi Hi i recently loaded my poi's into my nuvi with POI loader. All went well it all saved into a single file. I went to test them the other day and nothing has happened. What am I doing wrong? I have downloaded all the relevant files required and then loaded them into a single file using POI loader. Some help on the subject would be appreciated. My unit is a 260w |
| Posted by kjellNN Loading private POI information Hi, First, make sure you have the latest version of the POI loader. I then put all the varios Garmin POI files, XXX.csv, and icon files, XXX.bmp, you want to load in one folder. Then you must delete all private POIs from the GPS before loading the new ones from the chosen folder on your pc, this works for me. :lol: Kjell |

| Posted by steve.weatherill Nather view on this Hi, I have little trouble uplaoding POI files to my Nuvi 750. I download the required files (I use Garmin GPX format with proximity points if available) and the bmp file to a folder on my pc. I usually name the folder for the type of files being collected eg 'Accommodation'. I then use Garmin POI uploader (mine isn't the latest version) to my Nuvi. I save mine to a SD card in the Nuvi, ender \Garmin\poi\. Garming POI will first ask do you want to save to the GPS, Mapsourse or Custom. I use Custom. Garmin POI will then ask where to save the file and I choose the sd card (eg H:\Garmin\poi\) and select save. Garmin POI then requests where the files can be found. I direct it to the source folder on my pc where I have saved the downloaded poi files, and click save. If everything has been done correctly the files will then be found under 'Extras" on the Nuvi, The files where they reside will be under the floder name in 'Custom'. IMPORTANT . The Nuvi WILL delete any folder already on it with the same name (eg 'Accommodation') and all files in it when you upload the new files. :( |

I spent yesterday and read all 9 pages about setting POI but have some points not clear much hopping POI gurus help me out. I used POI loader and downed load POI from here and loaded into my gps. Followed instruction and successfully loaded traffic camera zone. I also have other POI like shopping, Recreation, etc. My questions are: 1. When I finished load the one POI, in order to load another category, I have to change name the previous poi.xxx I just load? 2. Let says I finished loading every categories, how to use it? Yesterday after I loaded the "shopping", I went to POI on my garmin but I think it is from original, not the custom. If it is not, how to access in to the custom POI when I need them? |
| Posted by life.by Re: thanks My experience is the several sub-folders were created under POI folder in the Garmin unit. For example, road safety folder and restaurants folder. Uploading, first I upload road-safety poi by POI Loader. The new poi file is created under POI folder on the GPS unit. Then I move it to sub-folder by category. After that, I upload restaurant poi to the GPS unit, then move the poi file to the restaurant sub-folder. If you do as above, the POI should work fine on your GPS unit. |
