Mac mp3 problem

Although I have loaded the .bmp, .gpx and .mp3 files using POI Loader for Mac, I still only get two beeps for any warning. I know the .mp3 files are OK because I can play them in QuickTime Player.

After searching the forums, I see advice to include a file named sox.exe, but obviously this is an executable that runs on a PC, not a Mac.

Has anybody been able to get proper voice prompts from a Garmin when loaded from a Mac? If so, how did you achieve it please?

Aha! I have solved this issue, after spending a lot of time on it. It seems the Garmin 1390 will let you load .mp3 files, but it just ignores them. However, the .wav files work (mostly).
Another issue closed, but it's a bit annoying that the Garmin instructions only mention the 2xx units as requiring .wav files and not .mp3 files.

I have also addressed this issue by using only .wav format audio from my mac. It seems that the mp3 files are simply ignored. I however have no had issues with .wav files. Its a bit frustrating.. however you can convert any .mp3 to a .wav using itunes. this also allows you to use any .mp3 you have (ie a snippet of a song) as an alert. Just takes some editing, but makes the experience more enjoyable.

Thanks justindecke. Do you happen to know whether iTunes can be used to increase the volume of wave files. Some of the warnings are quite soft compared with the nav instructions, which may defeat the purpose.
