Posted by Baz8755 Garmin Oregon Displaying POI names with quotes I recently downloaded the CSV files for the Speed cameras and transfered them to my Oregon 550t using POI loader. However it would appear that if the first element of the description is enclosed in quotes then the unit will display the first quote character agains the description. Reading the description of CSV to POI conversions it would suggest that the oregon has a small bug in this respect (which hopefully Garmin will fix soon). However as an interim solution I have written a little application that will strip the quotes off the 1st lines of description. Note that subsequent lines do not require the stripping. Anyone else seen this or if you would like a copy of the app let me know. Cheers Baz |
Posted by Mark Re: Garmin Oregon Displaying POI names with quotes Hi You can use our Magellan POI files with "Remove Quotes" option. Regards |
Posted by Baz8755 POI Quotes Cheers Mark, I may try that:) I also found that using GPX files solved the problem but I didn't get the multi field/line displays on the Oregon. Will try Magellan option. Baz |

Posted by Mark Re: POI with Quotes Good work Baz! Ming removed that blank space... Can you check now if it works okay? Thanks |
Posted by Baz8755 POI with Quotes Just tried it -0.05188, 51.500609,"Speed alert @20" -0.9625167, 51.4407467,"Speed alert Reading - Northumberland Ave; Reading @20" Does indeed solve the problem off quotes and leading spaces however it has now lost the multiline descriptions. So you now get:- Speed alert Reading - Northumberland Ave; Reading Whereas using the old file with the spaces removed -0.051864, 51.500631,"Speed alert @20" -0.9624987, 51.4407237,Speed alert Reading @20,"Northumberland Ave Reading @20" You would get:- Speed alert Reading Northumberland Ave Reading Probably not such a big deal but a little bit more cosmetically pleasing :) Baz |
Posted by Baz8755 Quotes in CSV Thanks for your help Mark. I have just done some tests with GPX files and decided the results are better with those :) |
