Garmin POI data issues on Nuvi 770 and Zumo 660

First off, thanks to all for putting together the POI data.

There were a couple of issues that I experienced with the POI data and my Garmins that are easily corrected as follows.

On my Nuvi 770 and Zumo 660, the Garmin Safety POI's would only work when using the CSV files. The GPX files would work for the location and the display, but the proximity and audio warnings did not work. This was corrected by only using the CSV, BMP, and MP3 files to load to the GPS units using the Garmin POI loader.

On the Zumo 660, the icon colors did not display properly. The red light cameras were showing up green. Doing some Google research shows that this may also affect any of the newer Nuvi GPS units and was corrected by converting the bitmap images to 256 colors. Using the advanced batch processing in Irfanview makes converting the BMP files easy. Copy the BMP files to a separate folder and use the Irfanview batch conversion to select the BMP files using the right click function to select all. Using the right click again, choose the Start batch dialog with selected files, choose the output format as BMP, check the Use advanced options, click on the Advanced button and choose to Change Color Depth to 256 colors. The default location for the converted files is to the C:/Temp directory. The files can then be cut or copied from the C:/Temp directory to your POI folder that contains the CSV and MP3 files. Run the Garmin POI loader and the icons will appear in the proper colors.

Cheers,
Tom
