Posted by bentzens Garmin .CSV vs .GPX I am new to Garmin and the concept of downloading custom POI files. Can anybody enlighten me as to which file types are best to load in my Garmin Navi 765. The CSV files it seems are editable and that my be an advantage when choosing just what I would want in the Custom POIs. Thanks |
Posted by bentzens Re: Garmin .CSV vs .GPX This link was very helpful: http://www.gps-data-team.com/pda-gps-navigation/topic/3030.html I have now deleted all custom POIs and will start afresh after a bit further research into POI options etc. bentzens |
Posted by bentzens3 Re: Garmin .CSV vs .GPX Found comments on this forum which were very helpful: Garmin POI's for Newbies. On Garmin Custom POI with a fully deleted area I created POI files on the computer by downloding selected categories and put them in a Name folder E.G. "Road Safety" "Education" "Shopping". Using POI LOader all the categories now are in the named folders - GREAT!!! I included the .gpx .bmp and .mp3 where the was one. It looks good, and the test will be "will it all display and alert the way I hope" bentzens3 |
Posted by Paradox187x Garmin .CSV vs .GPX Thanx bentzens3 Simple but really handy. Creating a few folders in Windows Explorer works a treat. |
Posted by lmayhue thx - this was a great help It appears that Garmin is a great product - I have nuvi 265wt and have seen more back roads than I new existed. This entry provided more easy to understand valuable info than all of the Garmin documentation and www put together. |
Posted by Baz8755 CSV vs GPX I did not realise there were differences. I will try the GPX's today as I have always used the CSV's until now. |
