Life Span of GPS Units

I just bought a Garmin 265t gps. I read that I could buy map updates until the units life span is over. Just wondering if I have bought a short life span GPS? Is there anyway of finding out?

Garmin GPS

Anything is fixable to a point so lifespan should be a long time :D

Life span of 65ML

I have purchased a Nuvi 65ML less than 3 years ago but now the Garmin workshop tells me the mother board has failed and I need to replace the unit probably with equivalent new model of Nuvi 67 ML. Question is what is the mean life span of the Unit? if the unit did not meet the stated life span will the supplier be obliged to at least give me a discount for a new model. This would be fair marketing

GPS Failures

My husband drive a dump truck in the city so he relies heavily on his GPS. He is going into his 5th year and we are now going to go shop for his 3rd GPS. The issue he seems to have is the plug in the GPS part become loose and won't charge the battery or the battery doesn't charge no matter what plug we use. Can anyone suggest a way of preventing this from happening. He has to remove the GPS from the truck everyday because he doesn't want it to get stolen as it has all his routes saved. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Life of unit.

I bought my unit around 4 years ago, a Tom Tom Go. Still works well for me. Keep it out of the sun when possible and it they should last you some time.
