Truncated POI Names

I'm interested in the database of PoIs to be found here, but I have been surprised to find that, in the free files I have downloaded, all garmin csv format, all the labels are truncated.

My concern is whether this is poor scripting of the file creation process or whether it is a deliberate impairment of the free files in order to persuade you to the purchase of a subscription. In the latter event, does the addition of the missing letters constitute the 'extended information' or is that much greater.

I am a bit reluctant to subscribe when I can't identify the benefit to be gained by doing so.

You are totally right.

Just to confirm... once registered the downloaded POI files will contain extended address information (i.e. not truncated). This wasn't very clear to me either!
