Posted by new user TomTom turns on by itself I recently bough a Tom Tom One GPS --Second edition, I think. It speaks but won't pronounce addresses. It works reasonably well but seems to have a strange quirk. It will be sitting on a table at home and we will hear the voice saying something and realize that it's turned itself on by itself. The first couple of times we assumed that it was bumped or jarred in some manner, but the last time I saw it turn on and activate itself. Any ideas? It takes a couple of seconds of pressure on the On switch to make it come on when you try so I'm puzzled about it's doing it by itself. It wasn't connected to a charger or anything. Thanks |
Posted by Bob One xl turns on by itself Have had exactly the same problem. No idea why. A new manifestation is that it refuses to turn on unless there is an external power source. The "turn off when not connected" check box in battery saving is not checked. I have tried resetting but this makes no difference. |
Posted by andysawiak Turns itself on Hey there I have the same issue. My tomtom 920T turns itself on straight after I turn it off and sometimes I can't turn it back off again. Updated the software and have to reset many times as the battery runs right down. |

Posted by clockman tomtom auto on I have had this problem with my tomtom one XL330 Tom tom has replaced it two times and the third one they sent me does the same thing. This is a factory defect in all tomtom devices. I believe we should force totom to do a call back on all their products and remove them from the market. |
Posted by alarasanchez tom tom I have experienced this problem with a Tom Tom one, first time I was surprised, but next times (3) I was angry. So I sent it back to the store and received a full refund. After that I bought a Navion Truck Plus Q71 with Igo Primo, and it runs excellent. I never discovered what was the Tomtom problem, but it 'd be good to know it. |
