Posted by woodsier Nuvi 250 - should I update my map? I bought a new Garmin Nuvi 250 yesterday for a trip I'm making. The store clerk says you pay $150 bucks to go and update maps off the website. The thing is, I have searched and I can not find this update. The current Nuvi 250 I run has no new highways and tunnels (and is probably missing some other things I haven't found yet). Where and how do I download a map update and does this cost money? What are my options? Cheers! |
Posted by newbie Registered yet? Have u registered? I just registered and was told there was a free update available - the problem for me is that I'm outside the US so who knows what sort of customs charges I could be hit with, but you should be alright! |
Posted by MrBlue Update Maps The new maps are not out yet. The 2008 update is due this spring and likely to not be free. |

Posted by jaroslaw Re: Nuvi 250 - should I update my map? Hi, If you just bought your system, you probably have the most recent version uploaded. However, you may expect some updates soon. Never got anything from Garmin for free, so most likely you will have to pay fot it. Cheers |
Posted by lunaazur Need to update I just bought a 760 and it came with the 2008 maps. I downloaded the 2009 maps free. The first thing I noticed is the new map contains the local speed limits for Switzerland. |
Posted by tel074 Nuvi 250 updates Recently bought Nuvi 250 and when I registered it I was informed that I was entitled to a free Garmin POI downloads. I downloaded the free info but am unable to install on to the satnav owing to lack of memory space. Uninstalled certain items to give more memory but still not enough. I'm now waiting for a reply from Garmin with suggestions, and waiting and waiting. |
